Tsurugi no Tekimetsu, translating to Sword of Annihilation is an impressive anime inspired action-fighting game, where players experience epic fights in an attempt to rebuild the lost harmony of ancient Japan from various fearsome foes. The stunning visuals, dynamic combat system, and Japanese lore integration make it a thrilling experience that keeps one hooked from beginning to end.

Inspired by Demon Slayer anime, Tsurugi no Tekimetsu is an action, adventure and a fantasy game. As an action-based game, it incorporates thrilling sword combat with different power levelled enemies. Players will engage in environments where they need to make precise moves and make quick decision. The action component is further enhanced by the environment it is set up in, and the game animation and controls, contributing exhilarating experience with every swing of swords. 

Talking about its fighting aspects, the game will immerse players in carefully designed levels with challenging platforming sections. The game environment will be inspired by Ancient Japan, where players will face off against different foes using swordplay and tactics. Players will use various sword moves against increasingly challenging enemies. The blend of Japanese lore with intense combat across diverse environments creates a captivating experience that keeps players invested and excited for the next level.

Development

In the development of Tsurugi no Tekimetsu, there are only two major influences that I drew ideas from: the anime Demon Slayer and the classic platformer Dangerous Dave.  I've always been fascinated by ancient Japanese culture, and the anime Demon Slayer was pretty much everything I was looking for. All environmental art, sword-fighting sequences, attire of warriors from ancient times, and the character designs left a lasting impression on me.
Dangerous Dave, one of the very first games that I had ever played, but its simple-yet-awesome mechanics of shooting enemies, navigating through levels, and the excitement of overcoming flying enemies had always held my interest. That sense of childhood excitement was with me for a long time and became an inspiration to develop this game, but with the elements of platform games.
Now, with all the experience and skills I have gained, through this Game Fundamentals unit, my wish from childhood is coming true: to put the combat and aesthetics of Demon Slayer inside the platforming fun of Dangerous Dave.

Target Audience

As an anime-inspired game on one hand and a platform-based game on the other, it's bound to attract both anime fans and platform enthusiasts. I believe the infusion of elements from these two different worlds will create something new and exciting for both audiences. Anime being a popular genre with an expanding fanbase, this game combines that aesthetic appeal with a nostalgic approach. This fusion can capture a wide audience, making it a perfect combination for young players who enjoy simple yet engaging gameplay, as well as older gamers in search of the nostalgic platforming experience.

Treatment

The game will feature a sword-fighting system where players use various sword techniques to defeat enemies. With well-designed animations and responsive controls, the game will be both captivating and visually appealing. Set in an ancient Japanese theme, the game will include character designs, fighting moves, and attire that reflect this style.

Inspired by the classic platformer Dangerous Dave, the game will have carefully designed levels with diverse platforming challenges. Players will need to navigate through these levels while facing enemies of varying power levels, which keeps the gameplay fresh and competitive.

The visuals will be enhanced with striking sword swings, enemy attacks, and environmental details. Sound effects for hits, boosts, power-ups, and jumps will make the game more interactive, and background music will help immerse players in the environment.

Different camera techniques, such as Cinemachine Virtual Camera and Cinemachine Dolly Camera, will be used to create engaging and dynamic camera movements, making the game even more captivating.

Player will have a visible health bar which will display their current health. This feature is to monitor the health during battles and different platforming sections.

UI

The game will feature well-organised menu screens for game settings, level selection. Along with that, the game will have the options for pause and game over screens. These screens will offer option for pausing and resuming the game and returning to the main menu. They will be designed in a way that they will be visually consistent to the theme of the game.
